On April 3rd, 2010, Team Meat released Super Meat Boy: HANDHELD!, an iOS game made as an April Fools joke in response to the iOS AppStore removing Team Meat member Tommy Refenes' game Zits And Giggles after he compared Apple App Store games to the infamous Tiger Handheld LCD games of the 1980s and 1990s.[1]

Design

The game renders Super Meat Boy as an LCD game, with a Tiger Handheld-esque layout and two game modes. In-game mode 1, or A, had you race and jump past saws to rescue Bandage Girl. Game mode 2 or B had you doing the same thing, but with needles instead of saws. There is a mute button to mute the audio and a high score button for high scores.[2]

Availability

The game couldn't be found anywhere online, and no video footage existed. Only two images of the game were available online, as well as the app icon for it. Team Meat themselves confirmed that they didn't have the original .ipa file for the game, so it was highly unlikely that it would have ever been found.

On March 11th, 2022, users "Fran 189" and "Cimbone" after contacting numerous people, managed to track down an anonymous user who still had the game file on their old Macbook Pro. It was uploaded to the Internet Archive shortly after.
