It was the first animated TV show about Alvin and the Chipmunks, and it aired from October 4, 1961 to September 12, 1962 on CBS  on Wednesdays, 7:30-8pm Eastern. It originally debuted in black and white, and color versions of the episodes were not seen until the series entered syndication in the fall of 1965.
The Alvin Show was split into 4 different segments; a 7 minute Chipmunks cartoon, 1 music segment based around a song sung by the Chipmunks about random topics, a 7-minute cartoon with Clyde Crashcup, a crazy inventor who invents everyday items, and 1 more music segment (different from the first one).

The Alvin Show was syndicated on many stations, with the last appearance of the show on TV being on 1995, when it was shown on Nickelodeon. Since then, only 3 episodes have been made available for purchase, and 2 VHS tapes with songs from the song in a sing-along format, which are now out of print. The segments have been swapped around many times in syndication.

In 2008-ish, segments from The Alvin Show were uploaded to YouTube but were taken down by Bagdasarian Productions, the owners of the show. In 2012, a user named "Rugratskid" began re-uploading segments to YouTube, which were later removed by Bagdasarian Productions. Rugratskid then began collecting any segments he could find. As of now, he has all 26 of the 7 minute Chipmunks cartoons, around 10 of the Clyde Crashcup segments, and around 85% of the music segments. In 2015, Rugratskid found listings on eBay for 16mm copies of Alvin Show segments. He sent the links to Badgasarian Productions Facebook page, who proceeded to buy all of them. He is still looking for any segments in better quality or any that are still lost. Segments that are found and lost are listed below. Bold titles are found, and any that aren't bold are still not found.

There are some places online where you can buy The Alvin Show, none of which I (Rugratskid) have bought from, only due to a lack of having any money.

4 Volumes Here: http://shop.toonarific.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1 (got screenshots from these discs from someone back in 2012, so I can confirm it's real)

http://www.collectorsheaven.info/The-Alvin-Show-Complete-Series.html (Got a mp4 of disc 1 from someone in mid-2012; they are Nick reruns recorded on VHS, but Nick seemed to have the best quality reruns, at least from what I've found)

If you have any lost segments or anything in better quality than what is available above, please PM Rugratskid about it.
