"""The Avengers video game""" was a planned video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U. The game would have coincided with 2012's massively successful Marvel film ''The Avengers'', the now-defunct THQ. Development of the game started in 2010 at THQ Australia studio. The studio was granted the license to create a '''video game''' based on the said movie. With failures like the U-draw tablet and a great deal of money spent on failed titles like Homefront, THQ was looking to cut expenses. Allegedly, the game was in development for 18 months before THQ closed down their Australian studio who was working on the game in August of 2011, due to the financially struggling.

Playable levels would include The Battle of New York, The Helicarrier, and the inside of an alien mothership. One screenshot features Captain America fighting against the Skrull, a prominent alien species in the Marvel comics not featured in the movie.
