The Jaleel White Special is an hour long TV special that aired on the ABC network in 1992 starring Jaleel White, who at the time was popular for his role as Steve Urkel on the sitcom Family Matters. The special aired just as Family Matters was in the middle of its third season and the Urkel character was at the height of his popularity.

History

The special aired on ABC on February 22, 1992 at 8PM PST. Serving primarily as a vehicle for showcasing Jaleel White's talents beyond his Steve Urkel character, it contained musical elements and had a plot revolving around Jaleel's character's fantasizing about producing and starring in his own romance film. Guest stars included renowned musicians Little Richard and Vanessa Williams, as well as actress Tatiana Ali (Fresh Prince). [1]
