This half-hour TV special, broadcast on July 16, 2000 on The WB[1][2], was made to promote the then-upcoming American theatrical release of Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One. It was hosted by Kel Mitchell of Kenan & Kel fame. It was made up of several different segments. It included a 30-second sneak preview of the movie, as well as several live performances of the songs from the film and its soundtrack by the original artists, plus behind-the-scenes footage of the soundtrack's recording and interviews with the artists. There were also guest appearances by Kobe Bryant, Christina Aguilera, 'N Sync and David Gallagher, who told inspirational stories from around the world to get the "power of one" message across[3]. It has not been rebroadcast since, nor has it been released in its entirety in any other form

Pokémon the Movie 2000 DVD

The special hasn't been seen since in its entirety, but the initial North American DVD release of Pokémon the Movie 2000 includes several clips from the special as bonus material.

The DVD includes the following clips:

  • A performance of "They Don't Understand" by Dream Street.
  • A performance of "Dream" by Alysha, with some background on and interviews with the artist and her family.
  • A performance of "Pokémon World" by Youngstown featuring Nobody's Angel.
  • Behind the scenes recording footage and artist interviews, featuring Donna Summer, Nobody's Angel and "Weird Al" Yankovic.
