The Werewolf is a silent 1913 film directed by Henry McRae and released by Universal Studios and based on the short story "The Werewolves" (1898) by Henry Beaugrand.[1][2] It is thought to be the first feature film about a werewolf, and it is the first film in the Universal Monsters series.[3]

Watuma, an Indian girl, comes back to life one hundred years after her death to look for the ghost of the evil man who killed her boyfriend. To accomplish this, she, for some reason or other, decides to turn herself into a wolf."
