The Wiggles are a popular children's group that formed in 1991 in Sydney, Australia. They are known for their hits Hot Potato, Get Ready To Wiggle, Fruit Salad and many others. Between 1991 and 1998, they mostly released albums and videos and toured heavily and would gain popularity in Australia. By the turn of the century, the group gained globe popularity and their albums, videos, television shows and tours would become hugely successful. The group's most famous lineup consisted of Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Anthony Field and Greg Page from 1992 to 2006. The lineup reunited in 2012 but disbanded by the end of the year to make way for the group's next lineup[1] that would last until 2021.

History

In 2016, to celebrate the group's 25th anniversary, the lineup of Cook, Fatt, Field and Page reunited for a series of concerts throughout Australia starting February 26th 2016 and the final one on December 16th of the same year. Since then, the lineup has reunited several more occasions like a benefit concert for Bushfire Relief in 2020 and again for an arena tour in 2022. The 2016 concerts were not only notable for being the first concerts the lineup would perform since 2012, but also several songs the group rarely performed would appear at the concerts like Baby Baluga, Numbers Rhumba and Shake Your Sillies Out, having a live backing band (similar to what they did during their Lights, Camera, Action! tour in 2003) and performing at smaller venues like the Croxton Hotel in Melbourne and the Dee Why RSL Club in Sydney. The show at the Dee Why RSL Club was infamous for having a power outage at the end of Play Your Guitar With Murray, which result in the final two songs of the set I'm A Cow and Hot Potato being performed acoustically[2]. The shows also had adults (aged 18 and over) instead of children in the audience and many reunion gigs would have this happen.

Availability

During the Croxton Hotel show in Melbourne, Anthony mentioned that the show would be recorded for iTunes. He later revealed in a subsequent Facebook Live video that the footage would be released on iTunes in February 2018 and a DVD release would follow[3]. The footage would end up being released on iTunes titled The Wiggles Reunion Show in May 2018[4] and a DVD release never happened. Five songs from the show were cut for it's iTunes release Numbers Rhumba, Shake Your Sillies Out, Baby Baluga, Here Come The Reindeer and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. The former three were released on the albums Yummy Yummy and Wake Up Jeff! respectively were Raffi covers and the former would be featured on the Yummy Yummy video and it's 1998 remake, but cut from international releases due to copyright. Baby Baluga was cut from international releases of the Wake Up Jeff! album and was left out of it's 2006 reissue It's Time To Wake Up Jeff! The Wiggles Reunion Show was released just one months before the original Yummy Yummy video was uploaded to the band's YouTube channel with Numbers Rhumba included[5]. Making the song's exclusion from The Wiggles Reunion Show confusing. Audience footage of the song being performed at the concert was uploaded to YouTube in April 2020 by user "wahhoohey". No audience footage of the latter four being performed has surfaced. It's very likely the group still have the footage of the performance in their archives, but it's unknown if the footage will ever see the light of day.
