Toy Story & Toy Story 2 (partially found intermissions for 3D double feature re-release of Pixar animated films; 2009)
In 2009 Disney and Pixar re-released Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D in theaters as a double feature as part of the marketing for Toy Story 3. Due to the almost 3 hour combined run time of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Disney and Pixar created a 5 minute and 10 minute intermission hosted by the characters to be played between Toy Story and Toy Story 2. This was done so movie goers could take a break between movies without missing any of the main features.
Introduction
Before the start of Toy Story; Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys introduced themselves and explained how the intermission would work. This was done in MST3K style silhouette.
Intermission
Following the credits of Toy Story; Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys were happy with what they just saw in Toy Story. In the corner of the screen they had a 5 or 10 minute timer counting down to the start of Toy Story 2. During the intermission, the toys played trivia about the events, characters, and production of both Toy Story and Toy Story 2. After 10 minutes, the toys got ready for Toy Story 2, again in MST3K style silhouette.
Availability
During the release, theaters had the choice of either using the 5 minute or 10 minute intermission. After the distribution, theaters had to return the hard drive containing the movie and files to Disney. Since this intermission was made specifically for the double feature release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, it has not seen a home release. With the difficulty of pirating a 3D movie and the prior commercial home media releases of the movies, it is unlikely that someone made a bootleg of the intermission.
