MTV Airings

When Undergrads first aired in the United States, the series featured songs by popular recording artists from the 1990s and early 2000s. Most, if not all, of these songs were replaced on later airings and when the series was broadcast internationally. Undergrads was moved around MTV's schedule to the point that viewers had trouble finding the series. In winter 2001-2002, Comedy Central picked up the series for reruns, though it's unknown whether that channel's broadcast included the licensed music.

Daria, Beavis and Butt-Head and Clone High are three other MTV animated series that had most of their music replaced. MTV original airings of episodes have been uploaded to YouTube, but these use the Canadian soundtrack.

According to the Internet Movie Database, episode 5, "Drunks", featured the following songs: "Butterfly" by Crazy Town, "I Am the Bullgod" by Kid Rock, "Rock and Roll is Dead" by Lenny Kravitz, "Music" by Madonna (listed as "Hey Mr. D.J", which is the opening lyric to the song), "Pinch Me" by the Barenaked Ladies, and "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters.[1]

On Canadian and international broadcasts, the series featured songs by indie rock and Canadian artists, as well as a few cover versions of songs from the 1980s. Those songs are the only ones that were listed on the series' official website.[2]

In March 2024, Lost Media Wiki user Mewtwowimmer contacted SABAM in French, explaining that the cue sheets were not being displayed, and that he would like to have access to all 13 episodes' cue sheets. Days later, he received confirmation of Episode 4's cue sheet: "Out to Get You" by Hennessey, "Happy Birthday to You", "Don't Walk Away Eileen" by Sam Roberts, "Hold Me Now" (cover of the Thompson Twins song), and "Crash the Market" by the Salteens were retained from the original Canadian airing. Other songs that were featured in that episode included "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park, "Intergalactic" by the Beastie Boys, "Get Myself Arrested" by Gomez, "Catch the Sun" by Doves, "Ladyfingers" by Luscious Jackson, "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz, "It's Saturday" by Marcy Playground, "How's It Going to Be" by Third Eye Blind, and "Coffee & TV" by Blur.[3]
