Witch Way is a fantasy family film directed by Dallas Boyes and produced by Peter Camani, and attributed to Screaming Heads Productions. The film was shot in Burk’s Falls, Ontario, Canada, as well as on Peter Camani’s property. Camani’s property is a sculpture garden known colloquially as Screaming Heads,[1] due to the dozens of ghostly, monolithic screaming face sculptures Camani has created.

Production of the film began in 2005, with the newspaper Almaguin News reporting in 2008 that the movie was in post-production and was planned to be completed that year.[2] The same article also reported that the budget was likely around $200,000 CAD. The film appears to celebrate local culture and the community, with filming locations including Peg’s Mountain, Lake Bernard, and other locations in and around Burk’s Falls. Camani reportedly employed the help of students from the nearby Almaguin Highlands Secondary School, where he was formerly an art teacher.[3] Local musicians Paul Shillolo and Jeff Stamp also agreed to work on the film, as the Almaguin News article stated.

While a trailer for the film was released via Camani’s (now defunct) website in 2008, later re-uploaded to Vimeo,[4] there has been no evidence that the film was ever shown or distributed publicly, bringing its level of completion into question. No new content in relation to Witch Way has appeared on the internet since 2008.

Plot

The plot of the film is not entirley apparent based on the trailer, but it seems to be about a band of young witches going on a quest to a dragon’s lair and winning a magic board game. A few more details can be gleaned from the 2008 Almaguin News article:

"Full of Canadian references, Witch Way includes a character named Aura Bora who goes by the name Alice; there are Saskwatches; and the two clans are called Wolf and Raven. The girls in this adventure face many monsters, but they have special powers with the help of orbs. Each orb is a different colour of the rainbow and represents, according to Camani, the power of six."
