With Stanley in Africa is a lost Universal serial in 15 parts from 1922. It chronicles Henry Morton Stanley's search for Dr. Livingston with the aid of a female reporter (played by Louise Lorraine) and his run-in with a gang of slavers that were added to provide the action desired by the serial watchers.

Synopsis

Henry Morton Stanley (played by George Walsh) is sent to darkest Africa with a female reporter to find the missing British explorer Dr. Livingston. As the two of them travel through Africa, they stumble across a gang of slavers who at one point take the girl prisoner and even auction her off to the highest bidder. After dispensing with the slavers, Stanley and the girl eventually locate the missing Dr. Livingston at the heart of the African jungle.

Notes

Even the trailer for this serial is lost, so much of the plot - and even the MacGuffin that sustained it - is unknown. It is even possible that the MacGuffin for this serial was Stanley's papers, which he would have needed to pass the checkpoints leading to darkest Africa, and which could have been very easily stolen by the gang of slavers.
