In 2002, Namco collaborated with a company named "Groove Corporation" to create a 75-minute CGI film based on the 1982 arcade game Xevious, since the game was celebrating it's 20th anniversary at the time.

The plot of the film is that in the year 2150 A.D, a space pilot named Takeru and human-esc. computer Martha find a mysterious little girl named Ru Mi in a large space vessel. Ru Mi warns Takeru about GAMP, a race of aliens that are planning to attack and conquer Earth. Takeru then pilots the Solvalou spacecraft to destroy the GAMP's base on the planet Andor.

Xevious and several other Groove Corporation films were shown at a summer road show in Japan, which was made by a company called "Garinpeiro".

Around the time Xevious was released, Groove Corporation's headmaster taking the money and movie masters and running off somewhere, which caused the company to go out of business. This lead to many movies being cancelled or not released on DVD, including Xevious.

According to an Amazon Japan page, Xevious was planned for VHS and DVD release on September 25, 2002 by Ken Media. The film was never released on DVD and VHS due to Groove Corporation going out of business at the same time. A small 10 minute segment of the film can be found on a Groove Corporation promotional disc that was most likely given out as a prize.

Many people have claimed to have filmed the movie during it's release, but no clips can be found online and it is believed that cameras were banned during the summer road show. The only images that prove the existence of this film are two very low screencaps of scenes from the film and a promotional poster.
