Toonsylvania was a horror-comedy animated series by DreamWorks Television Animation that aired from 1998 to 1999 on Fox Kids.
Plot
The cartoon was an anthology show consisting of various segments. The main segment was about the misadventures of mad scientist Dr. Vic Frankenstein, his hunchbacked assistant Igor and their dim-witted Frankenstein monster Phil. The other segments that were usually featured were "Night of the Living Fred" (which was about a family of zombies called the Deadmans), "Igor's Science Minute" (where Igor would talk or sing about a scientific subject) and "Melissa Screetch's Morbid Morals" (where Igor would catch Phil misbehaving and set him straight by telling him a cautionary tale where Melissa did what Phil did and suffered the consequences).
Occasionally, a B-movie parody or a musical number would appear in place of "Night of the Living Fred" and/or "Melissa Screetch's Morbid Morals".
Availability
A VHS tape compiling various segments from the show was released on August 13th, 1999, and is to date the only home media release the series has ever received. The main episode segments included on the VHS are "Darla Doily: Demon Doll", "Baby Human", "WereGranny" and "Phil's Brain". The "Igor's Science Minute" segments featured are "Clone or Be Cloned", "Gravity", "The Brain" and "Earthquake Boogie". Lastly, the "Melissa Screetch's Morbid Morals" segments included on the tape are "The Boogeyman'll Get You, Melissa", "Stop Making Ugly Faces", "Here There Be Monsters" and "Melissa Screetch, Earth Ambassador".
