Powerless was a sitcom created by Ben Queen for DC Comics in 2015, and sold to NBC for broadcast sometime in May 2016; starring Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, and Alan Tudyk, it was about a team at Wayne Security, who specialized in products to help the victims of superhero/villain battles.
In between the original pilot being produced and broadcast, DC Comics decided to retool a large majority of the show, resulting in the final pilot, which aired in February 2017.
Plot
The show's original pilot differs quite a large amount from the aired version. Greenlit in August 2015, was about a superhero insurance company (RetCon Insurance) that paid out people caught in the middle of superhero attacks, led by Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens). Among other smaller changes were character additions, removals, and personality tweaking.
Availability
The pilot, in full, was previewed at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, and a trailer with footage from the original pilot was leaked shortly after. When asked about the possible release, the show's creator said that Warner Brothers wasn't interested in releasing it.[1] A script for the original pilot was also located on a website dedicated to television pilots.[2]
On June 22nd, 2022, the YouTube channel Vanessa Hudgens Brasil uploaded the entire pilot onto their Youtube channel.
