Get Your Weight Off Of Me was a song recorded by Michael Jackson during recording sessions for his album "Invincible" with producer Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins. These sessions took place in 1997 and lasted until 2001. The exact year Get Your Weight Off Of Me was recorded hasn't been confirmed. The track was scrapped from Invincible but was mastered and planned to be released on the Michael Jackson Ultimate Collection in 2004, however, it was scrapped yet again. It's assumed the song was considered for Michael's second posthumous album Xscape, but it again didn't make the cut[1]
Snippets of the song had been circulating on the internet since 2010, but it was never known for sure by the community what snippets were real or fake. It became the most well-known unreleased song among fans.
Availability
While it remains unknown how many copies exist, the Michael Jackson Estate owns a copy and a CD with the date March 31st, 2014 on it. The CD with the song was auctioned in 2018, though nobody ended up buying it.[2] The date on the auctioned CD is the same day Xscape was announced.
The song was leaked on the internet on August 22, 2023, just days before Michael Jackson's birthday (August 29). However, the version that was shared was edited, intro cut and added another false, increased speed, part of the break cut, the last choir was cut, however, several fans are trying to return it to its original state. There is believed to be a more complete version of the song recorded in 2004 as well as a rumored 2014 Xscape version, but it's highly unlikely.
