Status: Partially Found

Jim and Judy in Teleland is an animated series created by Paul N. Peroff and produced by Television Screen Productions and Film Flash Productions. It was one of the first animated series made for television. The series was later shown in 1959 under the name Bob and Betty in Adventureland.

Plot

Two children named Jim and Judy enter their television for adventures.

History

Peroff created 52 episodes of the series from 1949 to 1950 but struggled to find distribution for the show. It was later sold to Venezuela and Deadwood, South Dakota in 1954, and Japan in 1956. Parents were concerned about the show, saying that their children were imitating Jim and Judy by entering their televisions.

Status

The show faded into obscurity after its initial airings, and only a few of the 52 episodes have surfaced.

  1. Chapter 1: Sunken Treasure
  2. Chapter 2: Secret Cave
  3. Chapter 8: The Kangaroo Boxing Match
  4. Chapter 48: A Friend is Lost
  5. Chapter 49: Kidnapped
  6. Chapter 50: Space Ship
  7. Chapter 51: Frustrated Robbery
  8. Chapter 52: A Magnificent Present

On June 20, 2017, YouTuber Char Char uploaded Episode 8 of the show where Jim and Judy go to the Australian Outback to catch some kangaroos. The other found episodes were uploaded by YouTuber jeffsabu on July 1, 2022. Otherwise, only the series' title card and a screenshot from an unknown episode are all that remain of the show.

It was aired in Japan in 1956 under the title "Terebi Bōya no Bōken." It was the first anime where the original audio was dubbed over by Japanese dialogue (previously cartoons like Superman were dubbed live).

Availability

Episode 8 is available on the Odds & Ends: Rare animated shorts from the Thunderbean Archive Blu-ray disc.
