New Kids On The Block (found animated series featuring boy band; 1990)
New Kids on the Block are a boy band that formed in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1984[1] and consists of brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg (brother of actor Mark Wahlberg) and Danny Wood and has been the group's only lineup since their inception. They had many hits throughout the 1980s and early 1990s like Step by Step, Hangin' Tough and Cover Girl. Although they broke up in 1994, they reunited in 2008 and their most recent material was the single House Party which was released in 2020.
At the height of the group's popularity, an animated series was made by DIC Entertainment and aired on ABC's famed Saturday morning lineup in the fall of 1990. Similar to The Beatles animated series in the 1960s, each episode focuses on a fictionalized version of the group getting into various misadventures with their manager (who was based on their real-life manager Maurice Starr) and would end in a pro-social moral lesson. The show lasted for 15 episodes, with its final episode being a Christmas special and is the only episode in the series to have aired in primetime.
