Rick and Morty is an animated adult sitcom by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, currently airing on the Cartoon Network programming block Adult Swim.

Backstory

Sometime after Rick and Morty premiered, Justin Roiland was asked by the fast food chain Subway to make a series of commercials featuring the titular characters, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. The commercials featured Rick and Morty exclaiming that they were "the New Jared," and promoting the product afterwards. "The New Jared" refers to Jared Fogle, Subway's main spokesperson at the time. However, shortly before the commercials were set to premiere, Subway cut ties with Jared Fogle due to his arrest on July 7th, 2015. Due to the fact that the main subject of the commercials was Jared Fogle, they were cancelled. There were 4 commercials made before Jared's arrest.

Availability

The only person known to have the commercials is Justin Roiland, who has stated he's not allowed to leak the commercials due to legal threats from Subway, but he did say that he put the commercials on eight different thumb drives and littered them in random places. He says he still checks where he scattered them to see if they're still there or have been removed.

Out of the eight thumb drives, four of them aren't currently known as they had been removed by unknown people when Roiland went to check on the drives. As a result, their fate and whereabouts are unknown. Whether or not someone found one of the thumb drives is not currently certain. The other four are still located where Roiland said he scattered them, but their location isn't known either as he hasn't revealed where they are.

As of 2023, none of the 4 commercials has ever leaked.
