"Special Ed" (not to be confused with the "episode 34" creepypasta myth) was a proposed episode of Ed, Edd n Eddy during the process of creating the series in the late 1990s.

Very little was known about the episode and the only evidence of it ever being thought of was in an interview with series creator Danny Antonucci where he reminisced about the episode not going through because it was "too real".[1] Based on Antonucci's previous statement in the interview, it may have been an episode that focused specifically on Ed, although it's difficult to definitively determine with just the title and no hints of a synopsis.

Due to the implied subject matter and the lack of any storyboards or similar, it's unlikely the episode ever got any production.

On October 10th, 2016, user Bedhead Bernie uploaded a video on Special Ed that debunked the idea that the episode got past the concept stage. In particular, he mentions that based on a query with storyboard artist Raven Molisee, nobody at A.K.A. Cartoon remembered the production of this episode. This, along with other evidence provided in the video, ultimately means that Special Ed's non-existence as a scrapped episode has been confirmed.

Further clues come from within the interview itself. Danny credits Jono Howard, a writer for the series, for perfecting the writing process while creating the series. The fact that Danny reminisces about the pitch process during the interview implies that the episode was one proposed during the creation process, then dropped because it was "too real" (likely meaning it was too realistic for the series' typical wacky style of humor) and didn't flow well with the rest of the concept. So, the episode was dropped and quickly forgotten.

I hear there's another unmade episode where the Eds start a religion for some quick cash. Of course, considering the source of this rumor (tvtropes.com), take this rumor with a grain of salt.

I seem to recall reading somewhere--it might've been back on the Wikia--that the site the interview transcript was posted on was less than reputable, and that there's a chance the whole thing is just an urban legend of sorts. Take that with a grain of salt, though; I might be misremembering here.

(Apologies for the wonky wording, I'm a bit sleep-deprived.)

As an addendum, though, I wouldn't classify the whole thing as a creepypasta even if it did turn out to be a hoax. It's not being played for horror.

Why is this marked as "Found Media"?

It's marked as found because there's no way to find media that wasn't completed. There may be a script out there though, or some concept art.

It can't be found if there's nothing to find, if anything this is existence unconfirmed.

"Too real" is a pretty ominous comment, maybe he meant the plot was related to controversial real life issues.

Yea, I think so. If it was actually made I think probably an incident about this show would happen.

Existence unconfirmed? I thought if nothing else, an interview with someone who previously worked on the show is absolute confirmation? The idea of the episode was absolutely confirmed to have been real, but we don't know if it actually went into production.

It's existence is unconfirmed for a couple reasons. First, there's not much evidence to support that the episode exists at all, since the sole site used as a reference is basically the only place that records anyone from the show talking about it, and even then it's literally mentioned in one line of the entire interview. To add to that, the line mentioning it is placed somewhat randomly in the interview and seems more of a non-sequitur if you read it in context. There just isn't much information supporting that an episode titled "Special Ed" was even thought up.

Even if we were to cast aside the preceding information and assume that the episode was thought up, then we run into another problem: there is no confirmation that any material from it exists. We don't know if there were rough sketches or scripts or storyboards or even a basic outline of the episode. Thus, its existence is unconfirmed.

I bet the episode consisted of Ed becoming self-aware at how everyone is constantly Patronizing him due to his "Low IQ" and he becomes basically mentally unstable and violent as a result of it. (Like, in a cartoony, ED kind of way, not all "HYPER REALISTIC BLOOD")

Can I move this to unproduced/nonexistent? Bedhead Bernie made a very good video last year that points out that this episode was considered and dropped before they even pitched the show to Nickelodeon (pre-1998). As Bernie puts it, it was dropped before they perfected the writing process for the show. Meaning a) It was never produced and b) There was no script for it.

Looking at the video, I would believe we should add this to non-existence confirmed. After all, what is also notable is that nobody from AKA remembers this episode, at least according to Raven Molisee.

I didn't know that, but a lot of people, especially on the old Wiki, don't seem to follow the info trail. Lots of things can be added to non-existence confirmed if basic logic was followed.

There are people on the old Wiki who still believe ADWSS still exists. Think about that.
