Take it Out in Trade is a 1970 softcore pornographic comedy film directed by Ed Wood, who specialized in campy, low-budget exploitation and genre films.
Wood was always in a humble financial state and often had to take out loans in order to make his films. Many of his films are exploitation genres in hopes of making a cheap buck. The film centers on a couple searching for their daughter and the discovery that she now resides in a harem. Many softcore sex scenes occur throughout the film, including incest.
No copies of the film had been released or made public since its original theatrical run, even after Wood's films achieved their cult status. However, three reels of outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, and deleted scenes were rediscovered in 1995 and released on VHS from Something Weird Video and had since been uploaded online.
In 2014, a full 80-minute print of the film was publicly exhibited at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City.[1] The film was no longer considered lost, but it had still not been released to the public.
On July 31st, 2018, The American Genre Film Archive announced they would be releasing a 2K transfer of the film on Blu-Ray, complete with bonus features.[2] The Blu-Ray was released on November 13th, 2018, and is available to purchase on various shopping sites.[3]
