''Blaque'' is an American R&B girl group founded by TLC member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Much like TLC, Blaque consisted of two singers, Shamari DeVoe and Brandi Williams, and one rapper, Natina Reed. Following the success of Blaque's self-titled debut album and an appearance in the cult classic film ''Bring It On'', they began working on their second album ''Blaque Out''. The album's lead single ''Can't Get It Back'' was released on October 16, 2001 and peaked at 91 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. A music video was filmed but never released for unknown reasons.

Blaque is an American R&B girl group founded by TLC member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Much like TLC, Blaque consisted of two singers, Shamari DeVoe and Brandi Williams, and one rapper, Natina Reed. Following the success of Blaque's self-titled debut album and an appearance in the cult classic film Bring It On, they began working on their second album Blaque Out. The album's lead single Can't Get It Back was released on October 16, 2001 and peaked at 91 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. A music video was filmed and is alleged to have been released.

Background

A music video for Can't Get It Back was shot on October 16 and 17 of 2001 in Los Angeles, California and directed by Liz Friedlander.[1] It was set to feature the girls in separate apartments throwing tantrums, ripping pictures and discarding memories of their exes before meeting up to dance together. It was set to be released on November 5 and is alleged to have been released for airing on music channels. The song underperforming on the charts is believed to be the reason why the music video was only shown in a limited capacity. Due to group member Natina Reed's pregnancy, and the unfortunate death of the group's mentor Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Columbia Records dropped Blaque, and their second album Blaque Out would be shelved for several years. Can't Get It Back was later covered by the UK girl group Mis-Teeq.

Availability

In 2010, two separate short clips of the unreleased music video were leaked onto YouTube. The first clip was uploaded in May and consisted of a dance sequence used for the chorus of the song. The second clip was uploaded in December and was included in a 1-minute compilation video by a former crew member of Two Door Productions who worked on graphic designs for other music videos at the time.

In 2020, group member Brandi Williams did an interview on Instagram Live talking about Blaque Out and Can't Get It Back. She stated that the music video did get released but that she could only find small clips of the music video online and could not find the entire footage. She also confirmed that Nick Cannon and Raphael "Tweety" Brown from the R&B group Next made cameos in the music video.
