The Avengers (found build of cancelled THQ movie tie-in game; 2012)
This article has been tagged as Needing work due to its lack of information (i.e. Gameplay, a more detailed history of the game's development and cancellation, existence of any builds of the game, etc.).
The Avengers was a planned video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U. The game would have coincided with 2012's massively successful Marvel film The Avengers, with the now-defunct THQ developing the title. Development of the game started in 2010 at THQ Australia studio. The studio was granted the license to create a video game based on the said movie. With failures like the U-draw tablet and a great deal of money spent on titles like Homefront, THQ was looking to cut expenses. Allegedly, the game was in development for 18 months before, in August 2011, THQ closed down their Australian studio who was working on the game, due to the financially struggling company.
Gameplay
Playable levels would have included The Battle of New York, The Helicarrier, and the inside of an alien mothership. One screenshot features Captain America fighting against the Skrull, a prominent alien species in the Marvel comics not featured in the movie. Players would also have been given the option to play in a first or third person mode.
