Backyard Safari is a children's educational series produced by Lancit Media that aired for 13 episodes on PBS in 1997. The series starred Cecilia Arana (as the show's presenter), Stephen Singer and an animated character named Crinkleroot (voiced by Rex Everhart), where they help children have a better understanding about natural science within a more inclusive environment.[1]

Availability

A few years after the series concluded, the show was available on Comcast's On Demand services until the early 2000s. In 2011, the full series was uploaded onto Kentucky Educational Television (KET)'s website until it was removed in 2021.[2]

Status

Outside of KET's website, the only other footage of the series available was a segment from the episode "Rocks and Minerals" uploaded by YouTuber Joe Woo in 2012.

On August 23rd, 2023, the episode "Butterflies" was found by YouTuber Funny Comedy Master after buying a DVD copy from Ebay that had the episode on it and uploaded it to their channel. Since then, any more footage of the series has yet to resurface.

On November 18th, 2023, the user CrazyIndianBoy95 obtained all 13 episodes of the series on a DVD sold on eBay and has plans to upload the episodes to archive.org.

On November 19th, 2023, CrazyIndianBoy95 posted all episodes on YouTube, and also sent a link to Google Drive where all of the episodes are stored, rendering the series completely found.
