Maya the Bee (Die Biene Maja) is a 1975 anime by Nippon Animation that is an animated adaptation of the German children's story "The Adventures of Maya the Bee" by Waldemar Bonsels. The anime focuses on a friendly female bee who learns about life in the meadow and other facts about insects. In the late 1980's an American-Canadian dub was created by Saban and aired on Nick Jr which is Nickelodeon's morning-afternoon children's block.

The Saban dub is notable for having a brand new music score and theme song for the anime compared to the European and Japanese versions of the anime.

However, the show stopped airing on Nick Jr in 1992. The series never received an official home release in the United States by Saban Entertainment. The Saban dub only dubbed a total of 55 out of 104 episodes of the entire series. Today only a few episodes of the Saban Dub can be found online since most of the episodes were recorded during the shows run on Nick Jr. in the early 90's. As of 2013, the only notable English dub of the series that is easier to be found actually predates the Saban Dub since the characters were voiced by unknown British voice actors and came out in the late 1970's.

Why's my whole damn childhood gotta be lost media? I think I may have some old VHS tapes with some episodes of this on it... but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find them in the garage and I have no idea if they'll still be okay.

Turns out when we moved we ended up getting rid of all the old VHS tapes. I vaguely remember it now and going through them and I don't think it was on there, or if it was it was on the tape that was too warped and distorted. I would have remembered it or kept the tape if it had been more recent.

God I used to watch this, David the Gnome and Lil' Bits fucking RELIGIOUSLY when I was a kid! Me and my grandmother would sit and watch this stuff on Nick Jr, it was an integral part of my childhood lol! I wish this were still airing on tv instead of some crap like Star vs Evil and Steven Universe.

I loved David the Gnome and Lil' Bits but I don't think Star vs Evil and Steven Universe are crap despite them not being my cup of tea.

Here are the episodes that have been found so far: http://kissa...-the-Bee-Dub

I think some of them have been uploaded to the official YouTube channel, but the ones on the channel are not the Saban dub.
