Mötley Crüe is a Heavy Metal band founded in 1981. It's current lineup of members include: Vince Neil (Vocals), Tommy Lee (Drums), Nikki Sixx (Bass), and John 5 (Guitar). The band has released 9 studio albums as of now. These albums are Too Fast for Love, Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain, Girls, Girls, Girls, Dr. Feelgood, Motley Crue, Generation Swine, New Tattoo, and Saints of Los Angeles. In 1992, Vince Neil left the band and was replaced by John Corabi. For the next 2 years, the band worked on their 1994 self-titled album. The album was not received well by many fans. Hardcore Motley fans wanted Vince back, but Vince was busy with his own solo albums. Motley Crue decided to keep making music because one failed album wasn’t going to ruin their band. A year after the album released, Motley started on their next album, Personality #9. The album was set to release in March 1996 but was pushed back to the next year with completion due in July. Motley Crue was not making as much money in this period so they had to downgrade from stadiums to theaters and even bars. They then fired their producer, Bob Rock, stating he was "too expensive and overproduc[ing] the music". After this, they hire producer Scott Humphrey for the album, with Nikki and Tommy acting as co-producers. The process then became unorganized and Nikki would get into regular arguments with Humphrey. Mick Mars’ role in the band was reduced as Humphrey relied on loops and filters to them, which can be heard in the band’s album, Generation Swine.
