Summary

The Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty, also known as the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, are the annual records of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. The Annals were kept in several archives throughout Korea, but all archives except the one at Jeonju were burnt during the Imjin War.

The mistake was first found at 1600 by Kwon Taeil, a government official in Yemungwan. When the surviving Annals in Jeonju archive was to be moved to Myohyangsan, he found the volume 11 of Veritable Records of Munjong actually had the contents of the volume 9. Kwon thought that this mistake was occurred when the Annals were distributed and enshrined to each archive during the reign of King Seongjong.[1]
