The Pray The Rosary advocacy was commissioned by the late Irish-American Catholic priest Patrick Payton in 1991. The commercial was created by Philippine branch of the Family Rosary Crusade.

The commercial became iconic to Filipinos who watched it in the 1990s. It aired before shows and aired alongside ABC-5's Station ID starting in 1992. The commercial was later became part of FRC's hour-long programs.

Premise

The commercial begins with footage of protesters blocked by the police while the graphic shows the word "ASK". A sound of a crying baby also appears in the footage alongside the graphic. Then, the graphic shows the word "For" while the sounds of shooting guns is heard along with the footage of soldiers holding guns. Lastly, a graphic shows the word "PEACE" with an audio clip of an unknown person saying "The people caught in the crossfire" while showing footage of people living in poverty.

The commercial ends with the graphic saying "WE ASK FOR PEACE" and the image of Jesus appears in the garden along with the voiceover saying "We Ask for Peace. In the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit." The image of Jesus is surrounded by a graphic saying "Pray the Rosary Daily. The Family The Prays Together, Stays Together." and ends the commercial. The said phrase originated from Fr. Patrick Peyton.

Availability

The commercial was said to have aired prior to February 1992 on ABS-CBN on Saturdays, RPN-9, IBC-13, and PTV-4. It later became another standard identification on ABC-5 starting in February 1992, until it was replaced by Please Pray the Rosary starting in 1994. The commercial was found by View on the 3rd - Jojo Bailon on January 4th, 2019 on an aircheck of ABC 5 on November 15th, 1992. [1]
