"Sailor Mouth" was an episode of the animated show SpongeBob Squarepants which first aired in 2001. It was controversial with parents groups due to the characters' (censored) swearing.[1]
Synposis
The episode revolved around SpongeBob and Patrick adding curse words to sentences. Mr. Krabs tries to stop them, but in the end, he says every curse word that there is. SpongeBob and Patrick run to Krabs' mother's house to tell on Krabs, but they all start cursing when explaining the situation to Mrs. Krabs. They all are forced to paint her house.
Uncensored Version
Tom Kenny has stated that they were told to use substitute words; however, they found it too difficult so they had to ask Nickelodeon if they could actually swear so that they could find it easier. He also stated that audio clips of the characters SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs and Squidward swearing do actually exist, but they are buried deep in the archives of Nickelodeon.
Availability
While no actual clips of the uncensored version have surfaced, some people have tried to sentence mix the episode or dub over them to include the actual words. The cast of the show have used curse words in interviews and in their other roles.
