Flashlight Brown were a Canadian punk rock band from Guelph formed in 1996, and consisted of Matt Hughes, Fil Bucchino, Mikey Conroy, and Tim Thomson. The band is known for their singles "Ready To Roll" (featured in Rugrats Go Wild!) and "I'm A Human" (featured in Smallville). The band has been inactive since 2007, although they played a one-off show in Toronto in 2011.

The band gained some traction from Canadian music networks following the release of their second album "Running Season" in 1999, with the music video for the song "Sonia Bianchi" receiving airtime on MuchMusic. During a 2002 tour, the band was contacted by producer Rob Cavallo (known for producing Green Day's "Dookie"), with the band being flown to Los Angeles. Although they were supposed to record 2 song demos, it quickly turned into a full album and a record deal with Hollywood Records. "My Degeneration" was released in April 2003, with the lead single "Ready To Roll".

Around this time, the band was approached to have a song put on the soundtrack for "Rugrats Go Wild!". According to the band's website, they recorded a cover for "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" (originally preformed by the Clash) on March 8, 2003, however, Paramount and Nickelodeon opted taking "Ready To Roll" for the soundtrack instead. This led the band to put out the song as a free secret digital download.[1] The website link was later put up on the Wayback Machine by user alexa_dv, however, the download link for the song has been broken for some time.[2]
