Crash Test Danny is an educational sketch series developed by Initial, formerly part of Endemol. It first aired on the Discovery Kids channel in the United Kingdom in 2006, with subsequent re-airings on DMAX following the former's discontinuation. Throughout its single-series run, Crash Test Danny had 13 episodes[1] each covering a topic surrounding physics.

Overview

Each episode explores a scenario surrounding the field of physics, starting with a child asking the titular crash test dummy (played by Ben Langley) a question that corresponds to the episode's theme. While guided, assisted and ridiculed by the Professor (played by Gary Carpenter, who also wrote the show), he and Danny conduct experiments to humourous results. Slapstick is a common theme throughout the episodes, with comedic animated segments intercepted between the live-action scenes. The co-creator of the BBC radio and television series Dead Ringers, Jon Holmes, narrates the show, giving commentary and informing the viewers with analysis and wit.

A Flash game was also made to promote the show and can still be found on many Flash-hosted websites. According to a presentation on the findings of this game[2], it was promoted on the official websites of Jetix, Nickelodeon and CITV, and was played over 400,000 times upon its release.

Episode List

A total of three episodes were originally uploaded onto YouTube by the show's writer and actor, Gary Carpenter, under the King Nutter name. For years, the show remained a piece of obscure TV, despite having a considerable impact on Discovery Kids' viewership at the time.
