In 2002, Project Aces, a design team made by Namco that worked on the Ace Combat franchise, was developing a game titled Xevious. The game was based on the arcade game of the same name and was to use an engine similar to the engine used in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. The game was scrapped due to shift efforts into developing Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War as Namco believed that a Xevious remake wouldn't be profitable.[1] A minute-long video was uploaded showcasing the game when the Project Aces Facebook account reached 5000 followers.[2]
