Julia Clarete fainted during the segment of "Pinoy Henyo" on Eat Bulaga in 2005. The show was aired on GMA Network, produced by TAPE Inc and it is mainly hosted by Tito Sotto, Joey De Leon, and Vic Sotto. Premiered on July 30, 1979, it is the longest-running noontime variety show in the Philippines.
Incident
At "Pinoy Henyo" segment headed by Allan K., Julia Clarete enters the glass tank and then the soap powdered bubbles are filled inside of it. The question is to guess what word is given to the audience, which is "tipaklong" (Eng. 'grasshopper'). Clarete begins to complain of shortness of breath, but Allan K. initially jokes that Clarete did not take the bath. At 0:48 mark, Clarete becomes unresponsive and loses consciousness. At this point, the hosts and the crew help Clarete get her up while Allan K. remarks to the audience and insults himself before the show goes on to the commercial break.[1]
It was later revealed that Clarete has an anxiety attack which causes her to faint, and Eat Bulaga learned that she has claustrophobia.[2]
Clarete's fainting incident was not the only time happened on the show. Another studio contestant fainted on April 28, 2010, birthday of host Vic Sotto,[3] and Maine Mendoza fainted on August 9, 2015 during the "Kalye Serye" segment.[4]
