In 2007, Roco announcing her bid under Roco's party Aksyon Demokratiko as a senator as part of the opposition coalition named Genuine Opposition (GO).
In the May 14, 2007 senatorial elections, Roco failed to elect in the senate with 8,457,748 votes, and it is defeated by other candidates of the Genuine Opposition. An election ad was aired in the same year, which features Sonia herself and the archive footage of Raul Roco.
