In 2007, Roco announcing her bid under their party Aksyon Demokratiko as a senator as part of the opposition coalition named Genuine Opposition (GO).

In the May 14, 2007 senatorial elections, Roco failed to elect in the senate with 8,457,748 votes, and it is defeated by the other candidates of the Genuine Opposition. An election ad was aired in the same year, which features Sonia herself and the archive footage of Raul Roco.

Premise

The commercial begins with a archive footage of Raul Roco from 2004 appeared over the clouds stock footage and Raul himself saying "Pagod sa akin ng iyak ng isang bata. Wala na si Roco. Sino mapapaaral sa akin?". Sonia herself meanwhile joined in, and in the middle of the scene, the graphic saying "Inang Guro" is appeared. Sonia herself also saying these lines:

Di kailangan punanaw ang pangnarap na ating mga kabataan.
Edukasyon lamang ang paglaban natin sa kahirapan.
Ako po si Sonia Roco. Asawa ng yumaong senador Raul S. Roco.
Ina ng amin na anak, dalawangpung-lima taon teacher.
"Inang Guro" ang tawag sa amin. Kung inyong tatawaging.
Nais kung po ituloy ang misyon ni Senador Raul Roco.

The commercial ends with Raul and Sonia saying "May pag-asa pa ang Bagong Pilipinas!", followed by Raul and Sonia doing the trademark sign, along with the graphic saying "ROCO For Senator" and the voiceover also saying "Roco sa Senado".

Availibilty

The commercial was aired nationwide during commercial breaks for shows such as Eat Bulaga, Wowowee, 24 Oras, TV Patrol World, Bandila, Saksi, and live sports programs for the 2007 election season. The commercial remained lost for 17 years until on September 9, 2024, when Youtuber and archivist UndustFixation found the commercial.[1]

Trivia

The background music was used in the commercial is the "Ang Bagong Pilipinas" campaign jingle, which is used in the 2004 Presidential Elections, while the footage of Raul Roco used in the commercial was originated from the Miting de Kumbinse ng Alyansa ng Pag-Asa Paid Broadcast aired on May 8, 2004.
