Alien Front was a planned port of action video game Alien Front Online (originally released for the Sega Dreamcast) for Nokia's N-Gage mobile phone/console hybrid. This port was going to be developed and published by Sega, which had previously developed and published games for the N-Gage.
Announcement
On February 9, 2004, Nokia and Sega had announced that they would port two branded titles to the N-Gage. Alien Front, which was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast and Virtua Cop (originally on the Sega Saturn) Both were announced with Spring 2004 release dates. The ports would be downsized for easier transfer to mobile phones.[1]
Gameplay
Gameplay footage obtained by IGN showed that you would be able to fight off aliens as humans in a certain time frame. As humans, you needed to destroy as many alien ships as possible while defending an objective. It was also stated that you would be able to play online through the Nokia N-Gage Arena. [2]
Cancellation
As the release date for Alien Front came and went, it was never released. There has not been an official statement from Sega as to why this port was cancelled. Many point out the fact that the Nokia N-Gage did not sell well. This may have caused the cancellation of the port. The port was speculated to have been completed as details like an MRSP, an ESRB rating, and gameplay were all released. [3]
