Comment: 4 minutes of episode 5 exist on YouTube, mainly the intro and a brief series recap

This series was produced in Austria as an Austrian/Dutch co-production. Six episodes were made and aired in Austria and Germany in 1987. It was aired on Dutch television by the Veronica Omroep Organisatie in 1988. The sixth episode only was dubbed in Dutch, the rest was transmitted in German and subtitled.

Aired in Austria and Germany as 'Dort kommen die Clowns' and in the Netherlands as 'Daar komen de clowns'.

A 4 minute upload of the fifth episode exists on YouTube, consisting of the intro and a series recap, before the upload cuts out. It was never released on home media in any of the countries it originally aired in.

After the series aired, a narrative story with song was released on vinyl, cassette, and CD. A book with illustrations also followed. The audio and book releases are not lost and can be relatively easily found.

These releases are based on the TV series and follow the same plot.

The author Herman van Veen also uses the intro song, 'De clowns' or 'Die Clowns' depending on language, in his live performances.
