Noel Gallagher's Amorphous Androgynous sessions (partially lost unreleased album; 2009-2011)
After Oasis split in 2009, Noel Gallagher embarked on a solo career. Talks about a joint solo album with Amorphous Androgynous started around the time Oasis released their latest (and as it turned out, last) single "Falling Down", of which the duo (also known under the name Future Sound Of London) produced a remix, which Noel liked enough to release on its own 12".[1]
All three worked on the album between 2009 and 2011, including four weeks of studio time with Noel.
History
At first, intended to be the actual solo album, but it was announced during a press conference on 6 July 2011 that it was going to be one of two albums - the other being "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds" that eventually got released on 17 October that year.
In February 2012 a song from those sessions, titled "Shoot A Hole into the Sun" (essentially a psychedelic remix of "If I Had a Gun...") was released as a teaser for the forthcoming album. However, in August 2012 Gallagher started to express his discontentment with the music produced by AA.[2]
Eventually, a whole album was produced, which was then sent to Noel for approval. His disapproval of Amorphous Androgynous' work prompted him to allegedly destroy the only existing master recording of this album.[3] However he said in an August 2018 interview that he found a copy of the album in his sock drawer.[4][5]
Availability
Apart from "Shoot A Hole into the Sun" only two other songs from the collaboration were further used - "The Right Stuff" and "The Mexican" which later appeared on Gallagher's second album "Chasing Yesterday". The rest of the material recorded in the sessions is presumed to be lost.
