The “Mario Build” of Splatoon 1 is a beta build of the game. This build uses characters from the Super Mario franchise. It was mentioned in the announcment of Splatoon 1, and 2 screenshots were shown. The first screenshot featured two Yoshis, in decent quality, but the second one, featuring Mario himself, is of much worse quality. No gameplay or other screenshots have been found of this build.
