I am the owner and program director for WSRR Radio, a local and independent radio station based out of Cleveland OH that launched in January of 2024.

When we launched the station we has already been using WSRR as a shorthand for our then website, StylesRebelRadio.com, so naturally we just continued to use that as our call letters seeing as no one else in the area or even in the US had them in use.

This past week while checking our SEO i noticed a single eBay listing for a pin that read "THE STAR 1580 WSRR AM STAR RADIO " naturally I was curious as to the origin of this pin so along with reaching out to the seller bagan to research uses of the WSRR Call letters.

What I found was only two instances of use outside of our station. The single eBay listing, and an entry in the "Fictional Radio Station Wiki" for a 99.5 Star station that appears to be completely unrelated, defunct, and possibly even from some form of fictional media?

No results come back on a reverse image search, The eBay seller has told me they have no information on the item as it was in a large bag of pins he purchased for his shop, and more confusing than anything I cannot even find a 1580 WSRR registered to the FCC at any point in time.

By the looks of he pin (I purchased it) it would appear to be from the 50s-60s based on the quality and graphic design on it.

My cohost pitched me the idea that it may have been for some form of project. While attending media school in 2019 we had to do a promotions class in which we showcased digital art for made up stations on shirts, hats, etc. Perhaps this is just a college project of something similar?

If anyone has any information or memory of what, when, and where The Star 1580 AM WSRR is it would be a huge help! - Style (WSRR Radio PD)
