Attack of the Giant Vulture (found Nickelodeon short film; 1998)

Created and originally screened in 1998 as a part of Nickelodeon's Short Films by Short People series (which, as the name implies, showcased short films created primarily by children) was Attack of the Giant Vulture; the 2 minute short was aired quite frequently from 1998 up until the early 2000s, after which time it fell into obscurity.

The short sees a group of kids being chased around Chinatown, New York by a giant vulture (played by another child, albeit in a vulture suit), who continually attempts to eat them. The protagonists then reverse the situation by defeathering, capturing and, ultimately, cooking the vulture, triumphantly holding up their knives and forks as the short ends. Despite it's intended comical nature, many people report being particularly frightened by the short during their childhood.

The Paley Center for Media in California were confirmed as having a copy of Nick's Creative Lab Comp Reel (containing Attack of the Giant Vulture), and a screening was organised to take place on February 17 (although the turnout was less than hoped for, and no-one recorded a bootleg copy). Several days after the screening, however, on the 23rd, a VHS rip of the entire First Ever Short Films by Short People Film Festival was uploaded by myspleen.org user snowpeck, and the video was finally made widely available for all to enjoy.
