...my sombre existence... is an album released on January 25th, 2003 by Canadian nu metal band Nervepitch. It was the band's first and only full-length release, following their demo ...how we change released in 2001. Shortly after the release of the album, the band disbanded after failing to get signed to Roadrunner Records.

History

On January 14th, 2002, Nervepitch would announce in the news section of their website[1] that they were planning to go into the studio to record their new album from January 20th - January 26th. They claimed that the album would be released in March 2002. On January 29th, the band announced that the recording process has been completed and that they are awaiting it to be mastered. In this announcement, the band also revealed the track list of the album. However, the release date for the album would be drastically delayed. This was due to a combination of website breaches, cancelled shows, and the time it was taking to master the album. The album was intended to then be released in July 2002 but failed to. On November 9th, 2002, the band announced that the mastering for the CD had been completed and that they were planning to release the album in the early new year of 2003.

On November 26th, 2002, Nervepitch would play a showcase show for Roadrunner records, which was regarded as very successful. But following that, the band would not play live for a span of almost 2 months. On February 3rd, 2003, the band announced that the new CD had been released on January 25th, 2003. The album reportedly sold around 80 copies in the span of two shows, and the band would express their excitement around the attention the CD was getting. In this announcement, they also stated that the album was approximately 53 minutes long. This would be the final announcement on the band's website, and they would play their last show on February 1st, 2003. The band never announced an official breakup, however, the domain "nervepitch.com" expired on December 31st, 2004.[2]

Availability

Out of the 11 tracks, only 5 full songs are available to listen to, albeit in very low quality (128 kbps). The bassist named John claims that he had this album in CD format in his possession, but lost it in a house fire.[3] The vocalist Ryan Moonlight tragically passed away on January 23rd, 2015 by suicide.[4] The drummer Scotty B claims that he also does not have the record.

However, on October 7th, 2019, the guitarist Julius Sneider created an Instagram page[5] showcasing his ownership of both the album and their 2001 demo. He also admitted to owning an unreleased demo that him and Ryan Moonlight were going to record prior to his death, and having a live show on CD that he has yet to find. Julius has said that he ripped the files from the CD to his computer in the highest audio quality but has yet to release them. He claims this is due to him being very busy with his job. The Instagram account has since become very inactive, with the latest post being on the 20th anniversary of the album, January 25th, 2023.

On April 28th, 2023, a user in a nu metal preservation discord Infrarain began having a chat with the guitarist Julius. Infrarain mentioned the missing songs to Julius, after which he sent her the files of Sombre, Possessed, and Seven. Julius said to her that she was free to share this with anyone, and then sent the files for the entire album, and the files of their 2001 demo. After this, Julius would take to his semi-abandoned Nervepitch Instagram account and make a post with Google Drive links to both albums.[6] Julius says he initially held off on releasing the album due to the mass amount of rude demanding from fans begging him to release the album.
