The film is noteworthy for containing the first on-screen animated depiction of the comic book characters Astérix and Obélix. ==Availability== For years, the film was not released in any home video format, only receiving intermittent screenings in worldwide cinemas (including a 2007 screening honoring writer René Goscinny's death).
