Status: Partially Found

Little Wizards is an American animated television series produced by Marvel Productions and aired on ABC from September 26, 1987, to 1988 for 13 episodes, created by Len Janson and Chuck Menville.

Plot

The show follows the adventures of Prince Dexter whose throne was usurped after the death of his father, the king, by an evil sorcerer named Renwick. Fearing for his life, Dexter escaped into the forest where he met a kindly wizard named Phineus and a dragon named Lulu who lived in a large tree.

With their aid, Dexter sought out the legendary Singing Sword with hopes that one day he could reclaim his rightful kingdom. Also helping Dexter were three little magical monsters - the result of a magic potion faux paux. The creatures included Winkie, a pink flying girl monster, Gump, a fat orange shapeshifter, and Boo, a cowardly creature with the power of invisibility (except for his eyes).[1]

Production

The show was developed for ABC, and they had brought in consulting company Q5 Corporation to help create the show along with other series for the 1987–1988 season. Q5's consultants include psychology PhDs, advertising, marketing, and research professionals.[2]

The show was advertised on the third annual ABC Family Fun Fair. This event showcased the voice actors who performed highlights from the show. The show appeared in Oklahoma City from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, 1987.[3]

Availability

While several clips of the show in other languages have shown up, only the English intro of the show can currently be found, as the show has no known home media release.

The show has been very obscure. For example, the series was localized as Cedric et Chloé in France. However, no official written records of its existence, even on the Internet, where mentions relied entirely upon fan memories on nostalgia forums.

Disney gained ownership of the series in 2001 after acquiring Fox Kids Worldwide, which included Marvel Productions. However, the series is currently unavailable on Disney+.[4][5][6]
