In 2008, Sirius Thinking LTD. (the company who also created Between the Lions) released a television show called Lomax, The Hound of Music.

The show follows the adventures of Lomax (named after American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax), a good-natured, melody-obsessed puppet hound dog, his fluffy cat sidekick, Delta, and their human companion, Amy, on a tune-filled train ride aboard the Melody Hound Express crisscrossing the musical landscape of the United States of America. With the help - and full participation - of real kids on the train, on location, Lomax and his friends track down the wonderful songs in different music genres and music styles that form the heart of the nation’s most diverse musical heritage on the planet earth.[1] Also aboard are Louise and Clark, a pair of adventurous fleas who have hitched a fun-filled ride on Lomax.

It originally aired on PBS Kids from October 6 to December 29, 2008, before it got cancelled due to production issues. There was a third episode of the show, which was called "Purple Light" which aired on October 20, 2008.

Plot

The Melody Hound Express travels out West, and Lomax tracks down a cowgirl singing to her horse.

While 12 of the show's episodes were uploaded on Inkblot Games' YouTube channel, the full episode has yet to be uploaded on that channel. A Tumblr user called FenneKindleFire (also known as fenneykindlefire) has said that the full episode was once uploaded to YouTube in February 2009 but got removed in 2011 and is now lost.[2] The same user also claims that it has never aired on television again after its only airdate due to a woman requesting the broadcasters to not air it again because her daughter disliked the episode. Later in April 2023, FenneKindleFire has found the archived links for two of the episode's songs, "The Horse Stood Around" and "All The Pretty Little Horses" but they don't work as the videos were not correctly archived.[3] The same user also found two videos of a boy dancing to the former song and while the audio can be heard, the video itself can't be seen very well.

Currently, the only clip from the episode that can be found is the song Old Bell Cow, which can be watched here. It's unknown if anyone has saved the video of the full episode before it got deleted, has a recording of it, or is available from other sources.
