Before being released to the market, the game has had a lot of content cut out in order to fit on the floppy disks and to meet the deadline. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is a 1991 point-and-click adventure game developed by Lucasfilm Games that is the sequel to 1990s The Secret of Monkey Island.

Premise

The plot centered again on young pirate Guybrush Threepwood, months after having defeated the undead pirate captain LeChuck.[1] Guybrush has decided to cement his reputation as a mighty pirate by finding the famed and mysterious greatest treasure of them all: Big Whoop. He gets help from, among others, a diminutive and near-sighted cartographer called Wally B. Feed. However, during his quest, LeChuck has been brought back to life again and is preparing his revenge.

Cut Content

Before being released to the market, the game has had a lot of content cut out in order to fit on the floppy disks and to meet the deadline. This includes extra rooms in LeChuck's fortress (a potion lab, an upside view of his throne...), an alternate rendering of the tunnel below the Phatt Island waterfall, and close-up cutscenes of dialogues between Largo and LeChuck. Most of the art has been made available to see in the 2010 Deluxe Edition and during the 2020 meeting with Ron Gilbert hosted by the Video Game History foundation.[2]

However, the most infamous deleted scene of the game is one where Wally B. Feed ends up on a raft on the sea after LeChuck's fortress has exploded. Wally would have dropped his monocle in the sea and, trying to retrieve it, would fall in the water, not to be seen again. The developers admitted this was too cruel/dark and removed the scene.

One of the files in the game files is still called "raft", which is a redrawn background.

There are no screenshots, sprites or any other visual evidence left of the scene.
