Rescue 911 was a docudrama television series that aired on CBS from 1989 to 1996. Episodes typically ran 60 minutes and contained several stories of emergency situations that often involved calls to 9-1-1. Reruns continue to air in syndication on PlutoTV (as of 2023), but the syndicated episodes have been edited to 30 minutes and omit many of the stories that aired in the series' original run (including the entire seventh season). Almost all of the lost stories from Seasons 1-6 have surfaced online, but one is still missing.

Episode

The missing story was reportedly shown on the original broadcast of Season 2, Episode 8, which aired November 13, 1990 on CBS. In it, an Oregon man discovers his infant son's bedroom is on fire, and he must break through two windows to save him. According to a viewer who seemingly references the story, the fire was caused by an electrical cord in the child's room. Reruns of the episode omitted this story and showed a repeat story from Season 1 in its place, in which a woman is trapped in her smoke-filled house after her TV catches fire.

The episode contained three other stories, which have all been found:

• A paramedic is hit by a racecar while tending to an injured driver during the 1990 Daytona ARCA 200. (View)
• A boy calls 911 when he awakens to hear his mother struggling with an intruder. (View)
• A two-year-old girl takes her great grandmother's heart medication. (View)
