The Social Security System (SSS) is a state-run, social insurance program in the Philippines to workers in the private, professional and informal sectors. In 1998, the SSS ran a PSA pertaining to accident insurance.

Info

The PSA shows a construction worker talking to his boss asking about the expansion of the company. The construction worker takes off his hard hat while the boss is not. The worker asks the boss what will happen to the former; the boss assures to the worker that nothing happens to the latter. Few floors above, another construction worker accidentally drops the sledgehammer onto the construction worker's head, but the screen cuts to black and we don't see the violent content. Then, it shows the image of judge's gavel where the male voice-over says "Pag ang batas ay sinuway mo, tatamaan ng sakit ng ulo (translate, 'if you violate the law, it will give you pain in the head')" while the onscreen text displays "Failure to comply is punishable by law. Report non-complying employers."

Availability

First aired on television networks in 1998 and then re-aired again in 2004. The PSA was formerly available on YouTube but the user who uploaded this video was terminated for "multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement" on mid-2021 and the video never archived, therefore the PSA is now rendered lost.[1][2] It was aired on RPN-9 and IBC-13.[3]
