Undergrads (stylized as underGRADS) is an American-Canadian adult animated series centered on the lives of four college undergraduate freshmen. The series lasted 13 episodes, airing on MTV from April 22nd to August 12th, 2001, and later on Teletoon in Canada. The series was co-produced by MTV with Canadian animation studio Decode Entertainment.

The original Canadian version of the show, which was the version aired outside of the United States and the version that is featured on the DVD, featured songs by indie rock and Canadian artists, as well as a few cover versions of songs from the 1980s. Those songs are the only ones that were listed on the series' official website.[1]
When Undergrads first aired in the United States, the series featured songs that had music videos, which MTV had to the rights to use in their shows, from the 1990s until 2001. These songs were inserted into scenes which originally had no music or replaced several of the indie rock songs. Undergrads was moved around MTV's schedule to the point that viewers had trouble finding the series. In winter 2001-2002 Comedy Central picked up the series for reruns, which likely, though unconfirmed, included the licensed music. The series finally aired on MTV2's Sic'emation block in 2006 with all the licensed songs intact.
According to filmboards.com user Ddey who compared an MTV airing of his with the version featured on DVD, episode 5, "Drunks", featured the following songs: "Butterfly" by Crazy Town at the beginning, "I Am the Bullgod" by Kid Rock which is played just before Rocko encounters Bobby Whiskey, "Rock and Roll is Dead" by Lenny Kravitz when Rocko tells the world about his adult diaper, "Music" by Madonna (listed as "Hey Mr. D.J.", which is the opening lyric to the song), and "Everlong" by Foo Fighters which is played just before Nitz goes to the bar with his fake ID.[2] The Internet Movie Database lists the episode as having all of the aforementioned songs along with "Pinch Me" by the Barenaked Ladies in between "Music" and "Everlong."[3]
In March 2024, Lost Media Wiki user Mewtwowimmer contacted SABAM in French, explaining that the cue sheets were not being displayed, and that he would like to have access to all 13 episodes' cue sheets. Days later, he received confirmation of Episode 4's cue sheet: "Out to Get You" by Hennessey, "Happy Birthday to You", "Don't Walk Away Eileen" by Sam Roberts, "Hold Me Now" (cover of the Thompson Twins song), and "Crash the Market" by the Salteens were retained from the original Canadian airing. Other songs that were featured in that episode included "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park, "Intergalactic" by the Beastie Boys, "Get Myself Arrested" by Gomez, "Catch the Sun" by Doves, "Ladyfingers" by Luscious Jackson, "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz, "It's Saturday" by Marcy Playground, "How's It Going to Be" by Third Eye Blind, and "Coffee & TV" by Blur.[4]
