The 1939 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is the 16th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and was held on November 23rd, 1939, in New York City and was shown to viewers live on some local NBC radio stations. The parade guest stared Eddie Duchin, Jane Pickens (who sang The Star-Spangled Banner), and a variety of Wizard of Oz floats and was notable for being the first to use utility vehicles to pull the floats instead of horses. It should come as no surprise that the 1939 Parade is considered a piece of lost media, being locally broadcasted on an NBC station in New York. In addition, no form of TV recording existed back then, even professionally making the broadcast permanently lost. The only surviving evidence of its existence is of one behind-the-scenes image.
