Delay and Cancellation[edit | edit source]

In August 2014, Netflix announced a release date of November 28th, 2014 for the special, intending for it to be viewed the day after Thanksgiving in the US.

On November 18th, 2014, celebrity Janice Dickinson added her name to the list of women Cosby had allegedly sexually assaulted and raped. Just hours later, Netflix announced their decision to delay Bill Cosby 77 indefinitely, only stating;

"At this time we are postponing the launch of the new stand up comedy special Bill Cosby 77."

Finally, in July of 2015, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that Netflix had canceled the special, stating "I don't think it's appropriate to release that."
